Drawing a first angle orthographic projection

Step 1 – Begin by drawing light pencil lines to create the boxes that will contain the front elevation and the plan.

Step 2 – Draw a 45º line from the front elevation box. Project lines as shown to create the box for the end elevation.

Step 3 – Draw the front elevation in its box.

Step 4 – Project lines from the front elevation to construct the plan.

Step 5 – Project lines from the front elevation to construct the end elevation.

Step 6 – The lines defining each view are then darkened.

EXERCISES

Draw the first angle orthographic projection for each of these forms. The arrow indicates the view for the front elevation. use on a piece of plain paper.
