The principle of first angle orthographic projection

VP   – Vertical Plane

HP   – Horizontal Plane

SVP   – Side Vertical Plane

Step 1 – The form is suspended in a box. The box is the first quadrant defined by two flat surfaces at right angles to each other.

Step 2 – The view from the front of the form is projected on the VP to represent its front elevation.

Step 3 – The view from the top of the form is projected downwards onto the HP to represent its plan.

Step 4 – The view from the side of the form is projected onto the SVP to represent its end elevation.

Step 5 – The form is removed and the box is unfolded.

Step 6 – The unfolded box shows the three views arranged on a flat surface in first angle orthographic projection.
